here are some of my faves from 2008 — from weddings, portrait sessions, and my personal life.  i had almost 30 photos that are my faves from the year, and sort of randomly selected ten of them…

this is definitely my favourite detail shot from the year…

i can’t even identify what i love about this photo.  i know it’s not technically a top ten, but there’s something about it that i love so much…

and, without question, my favourite photo from 2008….

where were we… oh yes… in PRAGUE.  i still can’t believe i got to do an engagement session IN PRAGUE.  i want to live there so i can shout “IN PRAGUE” a thousand times each day…

by some miracle, the maniacal clock-loving tourists gave us a quarter of a second to get this shot…

we had to do something with those beautiful cobblestones… as much as we hated them for the pain they caused us, walking all day…

it kind of makes me mad to see how pretty she is.  and she’s also super adorable and sweet.  ugh.  haha.

i love this  one!

and this one…. somehow, we managed to find a quiet alley.  (just had a flash of what the alley in behind my apartment building looks like… umm… i miss prague!!!!)

ok, i just love them all…

this was theressa’s idea, and i think it turned out perfectly!

then, theressa, damon, the g-man and i went for dinner to this AMAZING lebanese restaurant.  seriously, i can’t stop thinking about that food.  it was soooo good.

theressa and damon, i can’t wait to hang out with you again in vancouver!!!  enjoy the rest of your time in europe!

sometimes, it’s a little difficult to think of good locations for photoshoots.  umm… not when you’re in PRAGUE.  so, here’s a funny little story… about 2 months ago, i had a consultation with theressa and damon, here in vancouver.  i mentioned that i was going to prague in october, and they mentioned that they were also going to prague in october!  so, of course, we couldn’t pass up on doing their engagement session there…

i LOVED hanging out with them in prague.  it was so nice to a) speak english and not feel guilty for it and b) just hang out.  seriously, these two are so fun.  and despite the fact that i was made rather uncomfortable by theressa’s ridiculously unfair beauty, it was one of the most enjoyable sessions ever.

it’s hard to capture the beauty of prague in a photo.  but i think this well represents the architecture…

i love the way the light just wraps around  her hair.  her perfect, beautiful hair.  haha.

ok, part two will come in two days.  be there or be square.

this was… the shortest session ever.  i guess none of us were really prepared/in the right headspace, because we were all starving to death, and when emily asked if we all just wanted to do it another day and go for dinner and wine… well, it didn’t take long for us to head out for dinner.

note:  my new year’s resolution has been, for at least 5 years, to try to like wine… white wine is growing on me, and emily made a lovely selection.

so, yeah, you’ll see more photos of these two in a month or so.

we started with their two dogs, zizu and hank (isn’t “hank” the best name ever for a dog?)…

i am really looking forward to all of my 2009 weddings, but to be honest, i’m really REALLY looking forward to tas & diraj’s wedding. i wish i could share all the reasons i’m excited for it, but you’ll have to wait for may, as much as it makes me crazy to keep such wonderful secrets! so, after all the emailing tas and i have written each other, i was super excited to hang out with them and do their engagement session.

tas & their dog, clicquot (like the champagne…)

i love the light and the background in these next few shots, and i think they both look AMAZING in them…

i love this relaxed shot… aren’t they so adorable here?!

then we stopped at their place for a quick change of clothing before heading out again… this shot was taken just to see how this blouse would photograph, but i think tas looks ridiculously pretty here, so i kept it…

the opus hotel is such a wonderful location, i’d really love to do an entire shoot in there…

this next shot is the one that basically brought tas & i together (haha)… i remember at our client meeting, she told me she had a photo she wanted on water st, and i said there was a photo i wanted to do on water st… and they were the same! so, here it is… :o)

a few last shots around gastown…

i don’t even know what to say, her legs look so good…

it’s funny how sometimes, i plan a shot down to the most minute details, and then, when i take it, i’m not as happy with it as i thought i’d be… and then there are times when you’re waiting for a taxi, and decide to take just one more photo, and you get something awesome like this…

tas & diraj, i hope you’re having the time of your life on your cruise, and i look forward to seeing you when you get back!!!

i’ve said this before, but i really want to be friends with all my clients. the first time i talked to rachel, we talked on the phone for about half an hour, and i was totally bummed to have to wait for their session. but i think it was worth the wait…

oh, when i talked to rachel, she forgot to mention how gorgeous she is…

so, we started off the shoot on the rooftop patio in (on?) their condo building. they have such a beautiful city view, but still get that feeling of having a yard… perfect.

we ventured away from the building (while staying within a one block radius)… rachel warned me that gage doesn’t exactly love being in front of the camera, but he was a natural!

rachel, gage… i don’t want to tell you what to do, but… you have to have this up in your house! BIG! you look like supermodels!

since i know you’ll ask… it’s a bicycle rack…

can you tell i’m just in love with rachel?!

another fave of both of them!!

rachel and gage, have a wonderful time at your beautiful cancun wedding!! i look forward to television marathons with you!! :o)

kristen is a seattle-based photographer/friend of mine, and last week, i photographed her and her husband nick just outside of seattle.  unfortunately, we got a late start (too much talking over dinner), so we didn’t have a whole lot of light to work with for the photos… that’s ok, we’ll just have to hang out again soon!!

this location provided several great (although filthy) props for us to use…

i love kristen’s face here…

isn’t this location amazing?!  and the light was perfect (when present).

i took this shot using a video light, which explains why you can still (barely) see the moon in the sky — and the adorable nick and kristen…

last week, i met up with leigh & leslie in yaletown for their awesome engagement session.  engagement sessions are so wonderful, because they allow me to get to know my clients’ personalities and for them to get to know mine.  i learned that leigh & leslie are great, super down-to-earth people that i love spending time with!  i can’t wait for their wedding next week!!

doesn’t leslie look ridiculously beautiful here?!

all leigh’s idea to pose with the word “us.”

the sun sure is setting early now!!  but leigh and leslie were troopers with doing the shots in the dark!

i love this one so much, and i can’t even explain why.  it just feels really raw to me…

i am officially in love with street lamps.  the dramatic light that you can see just pouring out… so beautiful and simple.

“one last shot, i promise…”  these two heard that about a hundred times!!  thankfully, they were really good sports, and i love the photos that came from my lies!  :o)
