as  you can tell from my blog entries this summer, i am available for worldwide destination weddings.  i am also available for worldwide portrait sessions.  perhaps you’d like to return to the university city where you met, or your favourite vacation spot — for your engagement photos.  maybe you are planning a family vacation to disney world and would like someone to document it — let me know!  my destination portrait packages are all-inclusive — they come with the session, all of my travel costs (airfare, lodging, etc.) and a disc of all high-resolution images!  destination packages start at $750… contact me for further details!

saturday, i had the extreme pleasure of being present at evan and marti’s beautiful and emotional wedding. i was second-shooting for amber hughes of freeform photo, and am so grateful that i was able to share in this emotional day!

the entire day took place at aberthau mansion over in kitsilano, and seriously, that place is just a dream for photographers! it has so much space (inside and out) with beautiful little rooms and nooks, etc. marti and evan did such a wonderful job at planning the details of the wedding and pulling everything together into a beautiful, cohesive theme that suited the mansion. i loved their table settings — simple flower arrangements in mis-matched tea pots and little tea cups.

just one of the many amazing rooms at aberthau…

the girls getting ready in the library…

i have a lot of ceremony shots coming up here, because i just couldn’t choose. look at how lit-up everyone is, watching marti walk down the aisle… the smile on evan’s face… so sweet…

marti’s mom walked her down the aisle, and i was so touched by the way her mother looked at marti, and then at evan… it was clear she has such love for both of them…

there was so much laughter during the ceremony…

and so many tears… it was so beautiful and touching, i seriously couldn’t stop crying. to the point where i was in that state of shaking/convulsing crying… so dramatic. (the same thing happened during the speeches, and i’ve never cried during speeches. i almost always cry during the ceremony, but the speeches… that’s over the top) but seriously, watching all the love everyone had for each other, and listening to their vows… i’m getting all warm and emotional, just thinking of it…

these guests were seriously kookoo for cameras. i love this one because i’m taking a picture of him taking a picture of her taking a picture of someone else…

amber, working her portrait magic…

i want to post this even though it’s a cheesy portrait because marti just looks so beautiful here, but she’s even more beautiful inside. i heard so many stories of how kind she is, and by the end of the day, was pretty much prepared to beg her to be my friend.

i know i’m about to go overboard with ring shots, but i had so much fun with them on saturday! this one was taken on one of the guests’ clutch handbags. such a unique texture and look…

i love this one so much…

i am posting this one because i wanted to say it was basically impossible to take this photo… every single page with the date had the word “murder” or “killed” or “suicide” or “genocide” or some equally horrific headline. and i want to say i found that funny, but that sounds so awful…

in order to get marti and evan to kiss, guests had to sing a song… here’s that old classic favourite, “i’m a little teapot.”

i tried to take a photo of each guest there, and i’d just like to state that this was one of the most attractive groups ever!

marti and evan, thank you so much for allowing me to share in this wonderful day, you two are clearly such incredible people, and i wish you so many good things.

so, when i was a kid, my favourite day of the year was always easter sunday. it was basically like christmas at my house — but without the snow, so i could ride my bike. (remember, i’m from sault ste. marie, ontario). my mom the easter bunny would always give me a new outfit, some chocolates, and my favourites — skipping ropes, bubbles, tennis balls, and sidewalk chalk.  i’d spend the day drawing rainbows and playing hopscotch.

well, i haven’t drawn with sidewalk chalk a whole lot in the past few years, but i sure wish i had kept it up.  maybe if i had kept it up, i’d be creating art like this… (ok, you know i’m being facetious, right?)

HOWWWW?????!!!!!!

i believe that the only real thing is the guy… the hose and the drain and all the water (including the streaming bit)… drawn with sidewalk chalk.  yeah.

i wish i could link to where all of these came from, but they were just emailed to me.  this next one is really cool because the following photos show the perspective… it’s absolutely insane.

INSANE

yeah, i’m just speechless now.  i have nothing to add to this insanity.

let me preface this by saying that i *never* find comics funny. until today.

this one’s probably my favourite…

pretty cute…

i’m going to start doing this…

and my other most favourite…

last sunday, i had the good fortune of shooting lisa and matt, for their day-after session. lisa is a photographer friend of mine, and who knew she was also such an awesome model?! and the other super-awesome thing about it was that i got to shoot with some other really cool photographers — chris, ed, and heather. check out their blogs in the next while to see their awesome versions of these shots….

i just love lisa’s cathedral-length mantilla veil…

and seriously, isn’t lisa gorgeous?!

i love this one!

…supermodel!

this one is actually a total accident — i was just checking my settings and accidentally took this one while lisa was adjusting herself… well, in the end, i much prefer this version, even though it’s so grainy and totally underexposed… there’s just something about the lines of her body that i love.

don’t forget to check the other blogs to see more! and also, check out lisa’s site… it’s not fair that she’s so beautiful AND so talented!!!

ok, the most important part of this entry… neil young tickets go on sale tomorrow, and i am HOPING that i’ll be able to pick up a couple. fingers crossed that they won’t be sold out by the time i am able to jump through all the ticketmaster hoops. i didn’t even know neil young was coming to vancouver until i was out with ali today and decided to buy the heart of gold dvd (which i am watching and loving now). i’m so lucky i decided to finally get it today, otherwise, i wouldn’t even know about the show!

this isn’t quite my most favourite neil young song, but i think it’s the best video on youtube…

now, the rest of my day… well, it was great. i didn’t work for a single minute — can you believe it?! (well, until around 5pm. but seriously, being away from my computer and phone and general work stuff for 7 hours is a big deal for me! my friend ali and i went to legendary noodle on denman st. for a fantastic and completely relaxing meal. then, we stopped at beard papa’s for delicious, delicious cream puffs. now, hear me out… i don’t consider myself a pastry person at all, and the idea of cream puffs is fundamentally gross to me. i don’t even really like the taste of whipped cream (yes, i know how weird that is). but these cream puffs… seriously… sooooo good….

here’s an ultra-flattering shot of ali enjoying hers…

then, we pretty much just went to the beach, wandered around in the sunshine, and sang tom petty and neil young for the rest of the day. such a wonderful time! ali, next time, let’s go to boneta, k?!

kristy is a good friend of mine from way back in the days when i lived in victoria, and she asked me to make a trip over last week to photograph her and davis. it was good to be back in victoria and see some spots that i somehow missed while i lived there. it’s such a beautiful city, and i loved touring it with kristy and davis.

isn’t this location unbelievable?! i lovelovelove graffiti!!

davis is so cool with his corn pops…

this was not an easy shot to get… it involved some “borrowing” of a ladder, a lot of dirt, and basically just a complete disregard for personal safety.

i love voyeur-type shots!

parking lots can be so lovely in photos…

umm… yeah…

so sweet!

i love british columbia!! and kristy and davis!!

so, this morning, i heard a knock at my door. since i don’t get a whole lot of unexpected visitors (as in, i think that was the first time i’ve ever heard a knock at my door), i pretty much assumed it was an axe murderer. as i opened the door, i was preparing myself mentally to slam the door closed as a violent offender tried to force their way in… well, turned out it was a fed ex delivery person. (in case you didn’t realize that i survived the ordeal…)

so, there it was, a huuuggee box… i had no idea what it could possibly be… (my only guess was a leather sample i ordered from an album vendor, and i was wondering why their samples were so huge…)

and then, the card…

and i thought, ‘i’m not getting married, they must have delivered this to the wrong person…” (but, being nosy, i still opened the card…)

and then, i laughed my head off!!!! and, i also danced around my apartment like an idiot to the music played by the card, because, as you know, i freaking LOVE the chicken dance!! and i also love….

mariachi hats!!!! and maraccas (sp?) (not pictured because i didn’t find them amidst all those styrofoam peanuts until i was taking the box out for recycling) i wanted to take a picture of me in this hat, but do you have any clue how big these are?! it’s impossible to just hold my camera at arm’s length and get even half of this magnificent fashion piece in the shot. david and monica, i lovelovelove you! thank you so much, you totally know me and my ridiculousness!! :o) plus, it’s black, so it goes with everything… ;o)

happy first anniversary to brittany and matt, a beautiful couple that were married in white rock, bc on august 18, 2007.
